"Comment on every article, blog, interview, everything. Create such a buzz that it won't matter where we end up !!" -Michael Cudlitz

This is not just about a "just another cancelled TV show"; it’s all about saving scripted TV and all of the jobs that are being lost to reality TV. The actors, writers, stagehands, etc… Potentially thousands of lives effected besides the fans when a show like this is cancelled and replaced by a network to show the same old thing night after night. It’s time to rise up and take a stand!

NBC Exile ‘Southland’ Reportedly a Possible TNT Import

Numerous television viewers were stunned when the news spread on October 8 that broadcast network NBC has canceled the sophomore cop drama Southland just a couple of weeks before its second season was scheduled to begin. Now rumor has it that the decidedly gloomy, California-set series may find a new home on basic cable’s TNT.

Southland

When the ax dropped at NBC last week, Southland’s cast and crew had already completed shooting six Season Two episodes. No wonder, then, that the people responsible for the show are reportedly working hard to find it somewhere else to air.

According to the Los Angeles Times, TNT is a strong and natural candidate for Southland’s next home because Time Warner owns the network and the John Wells show is produced by Warner Bros. Television, another Time Warner property. Of course, regardless of that connection, the final decision will likely come down to money, as in how much TNT is willing to pay for a show that got the boot from another network, and one of the lowest-rated networks at that.

Southland follows the professional and personal lives of assorted Los Angeles-based police officers, including characters played by Benjamin McKenzie (The O.C.), Regina King (Jerry Maguire), and Tom Everett Scott (TNT’s 2006 paramedic drama Saved). Words used to describe the plotting and atmosphere often include adjectives like “dark,” “gritty,” and “raw.”

The ensemble drama began as a 2009 midseason series on NBC in April. Yet, although it was quickly renewed for a 13-episode second season on May 1 after airing just four episodes, the ratings were never impressive and went into a downward spiral.

Stay tuned to learn if TNT decides to give the series a chance at a second life alongside such proven hits as The Closer and Leverage.
