Networks offered canceled ‘Southland’LOS ANGELES, Oct. 11 (UPI) –
“Southland” creators say they would like to see a cable TV network pick up the recently canceled NBC drama about the lives of Los Angeles police officers.
The Los Angeles Times reported “Southland” creators have been actively shopping the defunct drama to cable networks in hopes of finding one willing to air the remaining episodes and perhaps pick up the drama for another season.
Among the possible homes for “Southland” is TNT, which is owned by Time Warner. Time Warner is also the owner of Warner Bros., which produces “Southland.”
If “Southland” is picked up by TNT, the series would join other TNT series such as “The Closer” and “Dark Blue.”
The Times said Friday A&E reportedly passed on “Southland” and the material featured in “Southland” has been deemed too dark for the USA Network.
Other possible future homes for the TV drama could be FX, known for dark dramas like “Rescue Me” and “Nip/Tuck,” or AMC, which is enjoying success with dramas such as “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad.”
