TV News: Southland Gone, Vick and Blagojevich Coming to TV
Posted by jkiesewetter October 9th, 2009, 2:24 pmBad news for “Southland” fans. Plus news here about a “Hawaii Five-0″ revival, NBC’s “Parenthood,” Michael Vick’s new BET show, and Rod Blagojevich on NBC.
Southland: John Wells’ LA-based police drama has been canceled by NBC two weeks before its second season premiere on Oct. 23. “NBC Datline” will replace the show at 9 p.m. Fridays. Variety says NBC execs thought the show too dark for 9 p.m., and with Jay Leno, the network didn’t have any 10 p.m. time slots. Guess you’ll have to buy the box set, whenever it comes out.
Parenthood: Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) has been offered the single-mom role on NBC’s “Parenthood” family drama. The show was delayed until midseason after Maura Tierney dropped out to battle breast cancer. Helen Hunt was thought to be up for the role, but now Entertainment Weekly says its Graham.
Hawaii 5-0: Cue the Ventures! The Honolulu Star-Bulletin says CBS wants to revive “Hawaii Five-0,” the 1970s Jack Lord cop show.
Michael Vick show: AP says Vick will do an 8-week BET reality show next year showing his life now — his NFL comeback with the Philadelphia Eagles after spending 18 months in jail for operating a dog-fighting ring.
Rod Blagojevich: AP says the impeached former Illinois governor will appear on Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” next year, citing “a person close to the Blagojevich team.” It doesn’t say if he will be a contestant on the show, or just make a guest appearance. He currently faces federal charges for allegedly trying to sell President Barack Obama’s former U.S. Senate seat.
